Study of the geotechnical behavior of soil-cement reinforced with plastic bottle fibers

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of adding plastic bottle fibers soil-cement mixtures and possible improvements generated by addition a blend two types additives, namely, additive 1 (waterproofing improver) 2 (adhesion enhancer), in compactability shear strength parameters soil-cement-plastic fiber mixtures, considering tropical residual soil. The used this are made Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), produced from soft drink bottles, added soil with mm width cm length, content 1% relation dry mass. Also, contents 3% 5% Portland cement, mass at ratio 0.25 kg m-³ 0.60 soil, were effect these variables on investigated engineering behavior parameters. compaction results indicated that inclusion PET tends decrease maximum unit weight compared fiber-free mixtures. if soil-cement-fiber incorporation additives composites resulted higher values lower optimum moisture content, but still maintaining than obtained for compacted Results direct test showed enhanced soil-cement, both parameter cohesion internal friction angle material comparison composites, which demonstrates potential application geotechnical works.
